What are my favorite things to draw?
Anything that's an animal lol. But I do enjoy ones with the fluffy fur &/or cute ears for example; lions & fennec foxes. For animating, my favorite ones to draw are the lip-syncing parts. For normal drawing, its the eyes.
What do i use for drawing?
Well, the digital program I've been using for all these years is "Medibang Paint." For animation its "Adobe Animate" (previously was Flipaclip.)I've been using a 2nd hand Samsung Galaxy tablet that's around 6 years old. It doesn't work well much at all nowadays so I switched to an old laptop (also 6 years old haha)With some money I saved I also now use a Huion H611 drawing tablet. All of these are great, I sometimes lose track of time when I'm focused at drawing and my hand ends up frozen in a writing position. Its super numb and take an hour or so to move again, but it'll be sore pfft rip
Why do you do commissions?
I mean, art is something I love, wouldn't it be great to earn something for doing something I like? But in truth, I do commissions too since drawing is the only thing that seems that I have a chance of earning something. I wasn't taught independence which is one of the reasons I'm unemployed (main reason is that I don't have "10 years of experience" haha)I earn money for the cats. I actually rescue strays in my area since no one rescues them even if you call the organization. I spend money to raise them with their needs before giving them away to homesAnother reason I do commissions is to earn for college since my grades have a 50% chance to scholarship and that's a risk lmao.
Any advice on drawing?
If I say practice, that's a useless answer lolBut a better answer would be just to experiment & have fun.Don't be afraid to use references, redraw pics from other artists (no tracing cuz that's cheating) and just let your creativity roam.I started back then by redrawing from FNAF animated videos like Tony Crynight's. It looked wonky & unbalanced, then I leared that I needed to draw a sketched circle to know the boundaries and the rest is history.I'm still learning and don't have much experience, my strategy is just to watch Youtube videos and experiment all their method till I see what suits me the most. Don't be upset if it takes a while, you weren't born a pro nor was I, its fine^^
Anything else to say?
I believe in you.I'm sure you can do great in whatever you wanna do. Don't hold yourself back just because people tell you to. If you really want something, you'll find a way to get it and won't make excuses. Also wear your masks in public to avoid getting infection/infecting others, stay safe!
